An Origin Story is the beginning of an unfolding creative collaboration with Taraneh Sarrafzadeh, exploring what it means to fit together. This dance untangles and entangles, asking: what do we learn from each other, and how do we coexist, as people of mixed heritages and diasporic lineages, as friends, as creatures dancing in and with the web of the universe?

Our artistic partnership and deep friendship grows from shared lineages of multiracial Asian diaspora, and a shared commitment to embodiment as a connective portal between the self and our ecologies: non-human and human; past, present, and future. Brought together by Dancing Earth Creations’ 2022 Summer Institute, we give thanks to our Dancing Earth family and its creative lineage of mixed-icism.
